Explore context create vitality
The Creator is an open studio where anthropology meets technology, hosted by Heyu
To create something good, WHY and HOW you create are as important as WHAT you create.
The Philosophy
WHAT:
The Creator explores technology and markets as an anthropologist, including periodic journey updates
MORE:
Launched during San Francisco Design Week as a community initiative, The Creator began by connecting designers with venture resources to address the systemic challenges brought on by COVID-19. Today, it has evolved into an open studio that documents, builds, and invests impactful technology products and businesses through an anthropological lens.
WHY:
Intentionality, cognition, and action shape outcomes. In a world overwhelmed by information, the ability to stay focused yet open—through deep thinking and decisive decision-making—has become a rare and invaluable asset. The Creator is an independent platform dedicated to quality discovery—with a focus on human cognition—and to fostering authentic partnerships, with a strong emphasis on respecting time and privacy.
NOW:
We are currently exploring the thesis of Vitality—the power of evolution through emergence—expressed across the systems of economy, health, space, and trust. At the same time, we are witnessing a new form of ‘scarcity’ emerging at the intersection of design and venture.
Quality possibilities — doing more with less. Specific opportunities include:
Better user experiences at lower cost — enabling access to meaningful alternatives.
New operating models for greater creativity — shifting incentive structures and power dynamics.
Bottom-up ownership with compounding authenticity — unlocking long-term value and optionality.
Let’s create.

Negative Space
Negative Space is where the roots come from. It was the first community program launched during the 2021 San Francisco Design Week.
The program now continues as an open call, funding thoughtful ventures through investors with a proven track record in design-minded investing. Selected founders will have the opportunity to be featured in design weeks around the world.
